The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment activities to learners with SpLD - moderate to severe learning difficulties. Will be responsible for developing schemes of work and teaching main qualification, English and math, tutorial and RARPA aims to special educational and high needs learners across a range of programmes within SEN and associated areas.

To complete all the necessary administrative and developmental duties associated with the teaching role and that contribute to improving standards and achievements and the learner experience and to take an active part in the recruitment of learners, providing appropriate advice and guidance.

**KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**

**Planning and preparation**

Plan and prepare, in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum, by:

- Producing and maintaining schemes of work and outlines of work including the development and direction of learning supervisor SoW.
- Preparing lesson plans with clear aims.
- Preparing appropriate resources.

**Delivery**

Deliver effective programme of learning, through efficient classroom management, including:

- Providing students with a planned learning and assessment experience in a stimulating context;
- Effectively managing and monitoring the learning process;
- Proving regular assessment opportunities;
- Providing timely and constructive feedback; and
- Guiding and supporting learners to achieve their learning goals.

**Quality**

Work in accordance with the requirements of the College and examining bodies, implementing quality assurance requirements by:

- Participating in the College Peer Review Scheme.
- Contributing to the SAR and other quality related activities.
- Assisting with the production of course evaluation and review the induction sessions.
- To attend curriculum meetings and to contribute to the continual quality improvement mechanisms (e.g. contribute to maintenance of course files, timely updating of e-ILPs on ProMonitor and Earwig).
- Fully participating in curriculum course team activities and meetings.
- To produce lesson plans, individual learning plans and assessment schedules etc. appropriate to the curriculum area.

**Monitoring**

Undertake monitoring and assessment of students’ and clients’ progress through:

- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records in line with College procedures and appropriate standards.

**Assessment and verification**

To evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and developmental feedback to learners. Including:

- Advising students on targets, progress and individual learning plans.
- Operating to agreed marking schemes
- Produce assessment schedules appropriate to the curriculum area
- Setting and assessing work of the students in relation to curriculum criteria and providing opportunities for student feedback.
- Lead on relevant assessment activities
- Act as an internal quality verifier.

**Associated administrative duties**

To keep accurate and effective systems of administration which support the student and College needs, including:

- Management and maintenance of learner ILPs, progress and performance records.
- Ensuring that students are enrolled
- Maintaining accurate and up to date registers
- Complete parent reports
- Organise and attend parent evenings
- Recruitment of new learners and interviews perspective learners
- Contribute to the review of ECHP outcomes and continuous re-assessment of new outcomes.
- Making appropriate referrals to College services
- Identifying and reporting non-attendance
- Referring matters to the CRQ Leader or CRQ Director
- Registering students for external awards, if appropriate, under the supervision of the CRQ Leader or CRQ Director
- Keeping accurate and effective systems of administration which support the student and College needs, including management and maintenance of learner ILPs, progress and performance records.
- Liaising with other departments (e.g. Exams and MIS, Study Centres).

**Curriculum and other development**

Undertake continuous professional development in accordance with professional development policy, including:

- Undertaking other development in liaison with the CRQ Leader or CRQ Director
- Undertaking curriculum updating in line with awarding body requirements
- Providing a general contribution to the curriculum development process
- Attending and participating in course team, programme area and College meetings as required.
- Attending conferences, courses and meetings to update expertise and knowledge.

**Student support**

Provide support for students, to ensure the best possible satisfaction, attendance and achievement levels, including:

- Acting as a personal tutor for a group of students
- Supporting students in Functional skills (inexperienced staff will be given training and support)
