We have an exciting opportunity for a Highways Safety Inspector to ensure Lancashire County Council meets its obligations under the Highways Act 1980 and ensuring the safety of Lancashire's highway network.

- Protecting the highway asset.
The post is a full-time position (37 hours per week) and the normal working hours are 8am till 4pm however flexibility is required in terms of working hours and out of hours work.
Highway Safety Inspectors are responsible for carrying out routine and cyclic inspections of the highway network to identify defects which pose a risk to highway users.

The role requires you to do a lot of walking and driving on a daily basis in different parts of Lancashire. Making accurate records and working to strict guidance and timescales are also major requirements of the role.
The role also requires you to interact with the public and deal with and respond to customer complaints. You will also be required to undertake claim investigations, provide witness statements and represent the authority in a court of law.
This post plays an important part in ensuring the smooth running of the claims investigation process along with assisting in the support and administration of the Highway Safety Inspection process. The role involves dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders including highway inspectors, engineers, managers, solicitors, and the public. The role is key in helping Lancashire County Council defend itself against public liability claims from people tripping on the highway or damaging their vehicle etc.
Please ensure you have uploaded and attached your supporting statement to evidence how you meet the criteria for the role. The panel may be unable to shortlist you for interview without this evidence.
