We are looking for a full time **Transport Planner **to join our central planning team at our Wakefield site. You will join a team of 3 planners and will be responsible for planning the routes for our busy network of collections and deliveries across our 6 sites.

Principle Responsibilities:

- Undertake effective planning and coordination of the Group Transport function.
- Undertake effective management of Transport costs.
- Ensure that exceptional levels of customer service are delivered throughout the function.
- Manage contractor relationships.

Duties Include:

- Achieve maximum utilisation of vehicles, drivers and trade plate drivers through efficient planning.
- Plan customer’s vehicle collection or delivery on time and in the most efficient and cost effective way to achieve optimum margin potential whilst complying with Transport Legislation and Health & Safety.
- Maintain control over contractor utilisation and minimise costs of external resources.
- Re-plan vehicle movements when necessary due to delays.
- Complete and resolve all outstanding planning issues or pending concerns.
- Arrange additional resources or alternative options to effectively cover all movements.
- Analyse vehicle optimisation and drivers productivity.
- Network modelling, peak of peak times.
- Ensure that legislation regarding driver hours and tachographs is adhered to at all times.
- Meet and exceed all transport KPIs and objectives.
- Carry out daily reporting/tracking of the days performance and execution of the plan to ensure collections and deliveries are achieved.
- Understand subcontractor’s terms and conditions to ensure mutual productivity.
- Ensure all additional costs are communicated and agreed at the time; minimising the potential for future recovery queries.
- Provide regular reporting of all costs and progress against targets.
- Assist the Transport Manager with subcontractor performance reviews, attending review meetings where necessary and support improvement plans.
- Work closely with Transport Manager to ensure the best and most cost effective resource is used to deliver an exceptional service.
- Consistently work in a way that delivers exceptional customer service, in line with SLA’s.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
- Take feedback from customers and act upon it, constantly striving for improvements within the function.
- Ensure feedback is learned from and work in a way that supports continuous improvement
- Liaise with subcontractors and site operations teams to execute network plan.
- Support tender processes to identify preferred supplier list.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance against SLAs.
- Manage bulk sub-contractor allocations.
- Select the most cost-effective option in all circumstances.

Skills/Experience:

- Proven experience in transport planning.
- Knowledge of transport compliance.
- Understanding of UK transport routes and connectivity
- Knowledge of transport planning systems such as Paragon is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience in data entry and processing.
- Excellent attention to detail..
- Ability to work in complex, fast paced transport function.
- Excel knowledge.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience of working to deadlines with quality output.
- Organisational and prioritisation skills.

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
