Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC) is an integrated physical health, mental health and learning disability community provider. We are a relatively new organisation, following the merger of two local trusts in October 2019 (both rated Good with the CQC).
Having delivered safe and effective care throughout the Covid pandemic, we remain on our journey to transform and integrate care around the whole person and play a significant role within the Integrated Care System (ICS) engaging with local community groups to help reduce health inequalities.
An opportunity has arisen to be part of the senior operational leadership team in the role of Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO). The Operations Directorate is being restructured and the post holder, working in conjunction with our other DCOO, will lead three of our operational directorates, along with Patient Flow. Ensuring effective day to day operational delivery, supporting system flow by working closely with partner organisations, and developing new ways of delivering services are all key aspects of the role. Currently this role is responsible for MH Inpatients, MH in the community and urgent care in physical and mental health. The restructuring is pathway based meaning this role will be responsible for MH urgent care and inpatient. Physical health urgent care and inpatient, Community physical health, mental health and learning disabilities together with Patient Flow.
The job holder will have direct line management responsibility for 3 Service Directors and will work closely with the Integrated Patient Flow Clinical Lead with budgetary responsibility for over £100m of Trust income and expenditure. The Deputy COO oversees approx. 2,000 colleagues from a broad range of clinical and non-clinical functions at all levels within the organisation. The role will operate at a very senior level within the Trust and will work closely with an extensive range of internal and external stakeholders.
You must have the ability to build positive collaborative relationships within the Trust and in the broader health and social care system. In particular, continuing with the positive relationships with our local Acute Trust, Local Authority and Primary Care Networks as part of our commitment to the ICS are key.

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.
Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards.
