***Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;**
**To liaise with Parish and Town Councils and undertake basic highway maintenance activities within the Community Area, identifying defects and works needs with the object of improving the condition and maintenance of the highway network**
***
***Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;**
**Work safely, be responsible for own safety and that of others**Carry out all required checks of plant, equipment & vehicles including completion of associated reports**
**Liaise with the Divisional Highways Office, Parish and Town Councils to identify and agree works programmes**
**Undertake identified works incl maintenance to highway drainage features, signs**
**& street furniture, carriageway & footway defects, and clearance of highway obstructions**
**Identify and if possible, repair minor defects**
**Respond to out of office hours emergencies in accordance with roster & timescales**
**Assist with winter maintenance activities**Undergo all necessary training to ensure you are competent to undertake the tasks assigned

***Formal qualifications required;**
**It is desirable that the person either meets the following criteria or is capable of achieving them within a given timescale**:

- **Conversant with Microsoft Programs**:

- **Holds the appropriate Street Works qualifications.**:

- **Holds or working towards NVQ level 2.**:

- **Competent & trained to operate powered hand tools i.e. disc cutters, chainsaws,
***plate compactors, strimmer’s and hedge cutters.**:

- **Competent by training to act as a banksman.**:

- **Appointed Persons first aider.**

- **Competent to use both computers and Tablets**:

- **Enthusiastic and team player**:

- **Flexible in terms of hours worked, attitude and tasks undertaken.**:

- **Good communication and interpersonal skills.**:

- **Self management and adaptability.**:

- **Organisational awareness & information management.**:

- **Holds a current driving license, and capable of gaining LGV license.**
