We currently have a vacancy for a senior therapy assistant in our hand therapy team. This post involves delivering clinical interventions to patients with upper limb injuries under the management of our hand therapists and burns and plastic surgery teams.

Additionally, the post holder will undertake departmental administrative tasks, equipment maintenance, stock replenishment and infection prevention tasks.

You will need to have good communication and organization skills, be a team worker and able to work on your own initiative.

Depending on previous experience, the post could be available to a Band 3 applicant who can work towards competencies with the support of senior colleagues. Full training will be given.

To assist qualified therapists in delivering an excellent Occupational and Physiotherapy Service to patients in the Hand Therapy, Burns and Plastics specialty

To contribute to the assessment and treatment of patients both individually and in groups, undertaking therapeutic work and supervising patients in activity relating to their treatment.

To undertake general department duties such as cleaning, collation of information/data, stock maintenance and IT tasks

To complete delegated Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy interventions in the outpatient and in patient hospital setting, once trained to do so. This includes prescribed passive and active exercises, assisting therapists with functional exercises, personal care, functional assessments and domestic activities.

To liaise with the Therapist as necessary regarding patients therapeutic interventions particularly highlighting any variations to expected outcomes from the treatment programs

To be able to progress patient treatment within established protocols and guidelines

To work as part of Multi-disciplinary Team.
