Chester, United Kingdom Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Working 37.5 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Matron to join the Urgent Care Division to lead the Care Of The Elderly portfolio at the Countess of Chester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated professional nurse to undertake the role of Matron. You will have an extensive skill set in nursing management and leadership and be an effective communicator. You will be a positive role model and hold responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance and Continuous Service Improvement, modernise patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated.

You will be working with your Matron colleagues, and will form part of a motivated and dynamic nursing team who demonstrate the Trust values through all their behaviours and actions. The Matron provides senior nursing advice and support for the hospital site and works on a senior management rota for out of hours and weekend shifts.

You will have a passion for developing staff, improving care quality, and creating a learning environment across your wards and demonstrate exceptional leadership enabling and empowering your teams. You will create confidence in your staff and be comfortable working independently and also within your teams. You will be line managed and supported in your role by the Head of Nursing and Divisional Director of Nursing.

You will be an integral member of the senior management team for the specialties, working alongside the Directorate Managers and Clinical Leads. The post holder will be accountable for ward areas; managing capacity and flow and the associated teams. As such leadership skills are a must.

The Trust complies with its terms of authorisation as a Foundation Trust.
