Cromwood Housing specialises in providing an array of property services to a selection of Local Authorities, Housing Associations, the Home Office, landlords and tenants. Due to expansion, an opening has arisen for an organised and proactive **Housing Benefits & Rent Coordinator** to join our London team based in Stamford Hill, North London.
You will be responsible for ensuring effective benefits and rent collection processes and establishing and managing tenancies. The role will include taking action to ensure prompt payment of rent and taking appropriate action where this is required. You will also prepare tenancy agreements and take action in managing these agreements including enforcement and evictions.
**Salary**:£26,000 per annum
**Hours**:Monday - Friday, 9.30am - 5.30pm
**Place of work**:Stamford Hill, North London
**Main duties for the Housing Benefits & Rent Coordinator**:
- Obtaining progress updates of new and existing claims by liaising with DWP, local authorities and Job Centres on behalf of the tenants
- Engaging with tenants at the office and via the phone to complete paperwork and to fulfil the requirements of the Job Centre / DWP / council to ensure the claim is in payment
- Raising stage 1 complaints to the DWP and councils, progressing with stage 2 as required.
- Providing on-going tenancy/benefit support for tenants
- Responsible for managing and maintaining good rent collection processes.
- Responsible for ensuring the correct tenancy agreements are put in place.
- Take appropriate action to manage the collection of rent to ensure accounts are kept up to date.
- Initiate any action required to manage the tenancy including court action for rent arrears or breaches of the tenancy agreement.
**Requirements for the role**:
- Excellent knowledge of the benefit system i.e. Universal Credit and Housing Benefit claims
- Experience in rent collection and managing tenancies
- Good knowledge of landlord tenant legislation
- Experience of taking action to manage tenancies
- Good communicator who can work well with partners and to lead a team
- Able to respond quickly to changing demands
