Job Description*
Who are we looking for?*
We have seeking an Electrical Project Section Leader to join RACE and work closely alongside the project managers, managing the Electrical Project Engineers to ensure electrical work packages are of high quality and delivered on time and to budget. It is focused on managing project delivery teams and supporting the design and development of complex electrical systems.
The role will be expected to participate in project design activities within the Electrical Systems group and be responsible for the Electrical CAD tools used within the Electrical Unit.
This role will allow to lead a project engineering group to deliver complex remote handling systems and develop the way the whole electrical group utilities CAD and drawing standards.
If you have experience of working in a cross functional team, experience of working in a safety dominated working environment and managing work packages and small teams of engineers as well as you have passion for engineering then we would like to hear from you.
**What will you be responsible for?**
- Overseeing the production of electrical design documentation for large complex remote handling systems over a variety of different projects within the RACE department.
- Working with the Group Leader and project managers; assign, coordinate and review workload and coordinate the activities for electrical project engineers.
- Ensuring quality of Electrical design work delivered for RACE projects and a signee for Technical Control delivery.
- Responsible for the correct archiving and storage of Electrical CAD designs and documentation across RACE.
- Co-ordinate resource from internal departments to support RACE portfolio delivery and expansion.
- Management and development of staff in the Electrical Project Engineering Group; including agreeing personnel development plans and areas of professional development, providing job performance feedback, setting objectives, completing staff APS, and ensuring that all the relevant UKAEA mandatory training requirements are completed.
Qualifications*
Essential skills, experience and competence required*
- Extensive CAD Experience, Extensive Electrical Design Experience, Management/Leadership experience.
- Related Engineering Apprenticeship + Experience
- Engineering or technology degree, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive electrical engineering CAD design experience and the ability to assess design work.
- Proven ability to deliver electrical engineering projects working as part of a cross functional team
- Abilityto produce high quality work to deadlines and to coach less experienced staff.
**Desirable skills, experience and competence**
- Management of CAD system for a department.
- BEng in relevant field
