**Job Title**: Laboratory Technical Specialist

**Job Type**:Permanent
**Hours**: 37.5 per week
**Job Location**:Ellesmere Port
**Salary**: £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus private health cover after 1 years’ service, a contributory pension scheme and life cover.
As a Laboratory Technical Specialist you’ll be responsible for carrying out project work to facilitate the set up of new testing, contracts and systems. You will also provide advice and technical support for all Oil and Gas UK laboratories on quality/technical issues.

**Key Accountabilities;**:

- Provide technical support in all aspects of laboratory services implementation & development including training and equipment issues in order to achieve technical consistency and improve performance of UK labs.
- Provide training to laboratory employees to help ensure compliance with UK laboratory procedures.
- Provide Technical support for all UK Laboratories to resolve quality / technical issues on an ad hoc basis to ensure customer service standards are maintained.
- Carry out Technical / Quality / Safety Audits around UK in order to maintain standards are line with ISO17025 and OSHAS 18001.
- Act as company representative during external audits as required.
- Provide on site technical support for business development & project implementation as required.
- Assist in the develop and supply KPI management statistics for UK laboratory performance on monthly basis supporting the Quality & Technical Managers and to ensure compliance with quality system procedures.
- Regular travel around sites to provide support to Branch Managers/Laboratory Managers specifically on Laboratory services.
- Flexibility required by the technical team to provide emergency support by backing up all Laboratory Managers across the UK.

**Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience of working a busy testing laboratory within the petrochemical industry.
**In addition to the above you’ll also need to demonstrate the following;**:

- Experience of presenting ideas and information to a range of audiences
- Experience of delivering technical laboratory based training.
- Min A-Level or equivalent grades A to C in Chemistry
- Min. GCSE Maths and English grades A to C or equivalent
- Full driving license
- Proven skill at diagnosis and repair of analytical equipment.
- Working knowledge of IP, ASTM, and BS methods.
- Working knowledge of MS Office IT systems.
