**Role summary**

A kitchen porter is a crucial part of every kitchen to help the kitchen run successfully. The post holder is responsible for upholding the Kitchen’s 5-star food hygiene rating by maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness within the kitchen. The kitchen porter will work alongside the Chef and support them on a day-to-day basis.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Ensure the standards of cleanliness are achieved and maintained in all kitchens, food preparation, food storage areas and the player/ staff diner area, including walls, floors, corridors, fridges & freezers, pot and ware-wash areas, fixtures and fittings. This involves daily and periodic cleaning in accordance with the cleaning schedules and minimum quality standards.
- Ensure that all plates, glasses, and cutlery are polished and stored clean ready for use.
- Ensure all kitchen utensils, pots and pans etc. are washed and stored clean and dry and in the correct storage location.
- Use of special equipment (e.g. dishwashers, steam cleaners etc)
- Assist the chefs as directed with basic food preparation tasks (e.g. vegetable preparation) and assisting with the food service as necessary.
- Putting deliveries away and practicing stock rotation
- Responsible for the management of the cleaning supplies.
- Dispose of rubbish and clean out bins in line with requirements.
- Comply with all company and statutory regulations relating to Health and Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, Fire and COSHH.
- Report any fault or defect with kitchen equipment and/or unsafe practices.
- Assist in helping to maintain a conscious approach to security and sustainability within the building.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other relevant duties as reasonably required by management (during off peak periods this could involve other duties in other departments).

**Your Skills and Experience**
- Understanding of manual handling techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of kitchen health and safety, and food hygiene practices.
- Awareness of chemical/cleaning substances.
