**Commodities Purchasing Manager**
**£55k + Bonus + Bens + Prospects**
**Waltham Abbey**
**Summary**:
This is a key operational role, overseeing the management of direct procurement and stock functions, with responsibility for delivering sustainable value to the business through the creation, recommendation and execution of effective sourcing strategies.
Acting as a focal point for all things procurement and focusing on the all important elements of cost, availability of supply, quality, service and innovation, whilst keeping stock levels within agreed working parameters, this will involve:
- Leading, mentoring and motivating the purchasing and stock control team, having direct accountability for the management and development of all stock personnel at both sites
- Negotiating and creating robust contracts, as well as managing and driving improvements in supplier performance, with an emphasis on compliance and delivering against agreed SLAs/KPIs
- Overseeing the stock function, with responsibility for the effective management of stock and developing contingency plans to ensure continued availability to meet ongoing demand
- Managing and driving through change, planning and implementing procurement related projects and continuous improvement programmes that deliver measurable value
- Continually gathering market intelligence and insight to develop a broader understanding of wider supply marketplace and our ability to adopt effective, real time sourcing strategies
**Skills/experience/qualifications:

As an accomplished procurement/purchasing professional, already operating in a similar capacity and ideally from a FMCG, food ingredients or commodities background, you must have significant experience in ingredients management and be able to demonstrate:
- Direct involvement in the negotiation, construction and subsequent execution of contracts with UK and overseas suppliers, covering multiple product categories and sites
- A proven ability to lead teams and manage people, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, supported by a good level of project management experience
- A genuine understanding of data analysis and intelligence gathering techniques, backed by a practical grasp of Excel and ideally linked by a working knowledge of SAP/ERP systems, including rationalisation strategies for the current portfolio and timelysourcing of new products
