We are a long established, family owned, food wholesaler, located in Exeter, Devon.

We specialise in sourcing and supplying a broad range of Chilled, Frozen, Ambient products from across the Southwest. We also run a sister company called West Country Olives.

We slice, cut and pack the majority of products we stock.

Our business is now looking for a new members of staff to join our small friendly team ASAP.

35-40 hours a week approximately, seasonal overtime in our busier periods (Christmas as an example)

Typical hours being 6am - 3pm weekdays. Short day Friday

**Main Responsibilities**

Manage the busy & growing production for our sister company west country olives. Tasks include, production, stock management, strict recipe control & obtaining our current award winning standards.

Assist in our production rooms, hand cutting cheese, slicing meats & vacuum-packing foods, while ensuring good hygiene practices are adhered to.

Cross check any batch/date information on label to product.

Follow company policies and procedures; implement training and good practice in to working procedures;
Become competent and implement the principles of Safer Food Better Business, HACCP and all other relevant legislative procedures and paperwork;
Maintaining a clean and tidy working area throughout the working day. Sanitize work area at the end of each day;
Follow all other policies & procedures set by the company.

**MAIN FEATURES OF THIS ROLE WILL INCLUDE**:

- Working with food: Olives, cheeses, meats & bacon.
- Standing for long periods of time
- Operating vac-packing machinery and other food process machinery.
- Working within a chilled environment of around 4 degrees
- Manual handling
- Using touch screen scale equipment
- Working on your own and within a small team
- Wearing protective over coats, gloves, hair nets. Female’s hair tied up, men clean shaven or beard net.*
- Managing and maintaining production, cleaning & HACCP records.

**Experience and Skills**

**Essential**
- A Passion for food
- Proven ability of using own initiative whilst working independently and as part of a team
- Experience of working well under pressure whilst promoting a positive target focused attitude
- Understanding the importance of good personal and food hygiene
- Attention to detail
- Good level of English and mathematical skills
- Be able to self-motivate and manage own time over a variety of tasks
- Having pride in your work.

**Desirable**
- Experience of working in a food production / manufacturing environment
- Up to date training certificate in Basic Food Hygiene
- Experience in Safer Food Better Business (food hygiene), Health & Safety, HACCP & COSHH

Pay: £11.44-£12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 40 per week
