Care Assistant

**We are hiring Looking for a care assistant to join our night shift team in our exceptional care home in Kennoway, Leven**

**CARE ASSISTANT (NIGHTS) £10.50 - £10.72 per hour**

**2 X 12hr shifts per week (Part-time) OR**

**3 X 12hr shifts per week (Full-time) OR**

**BANK - for both days and/or nights - you control your availability**

**Reporting To: Supervisor or Deputy / Manager**

**Job Purpose**: To provide high standards of care to all residents as directed by, and under the supervision of, Supervisors and Managers.

**SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS**

**Required**:

- Ability to communicate effectively at all times and at all level
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
- Satisfactory PVG check with Disclosure Scotland

**Main Responsibilities**

**Care**
- Assist with the reception and orientation of new residents in a reassuring manner, listing the residents clothing and other property.
- Attend to the comfort and personal appearance and hygiene of residents at all times including, but not exclusive to, dressing, undressing, toileting, bathing, combing hair, assisting with dentures and hearing aids.
- Record and chart observations of residents including weight, and food and liquid intake/output. Perform simple urine tests. Complete charts and care assistant records as directed.
- Prepare food trays and eating areas, prepare residents for meals. Provide assistance to residents with eating as needed. Clear away trays and crockery.
- Tidy resident’s rooms and cupboards, keeping clothing and possessions in order.
- Make beds and change bed linen. Dispose of soiled linen in accordance with Infection Control procedures.
- Escort residents to hospital, dentist, shops, or other approved excursions. Assist with social care needs.
- Assist with domestic duties.
- Any other reasonable tasks requested by a supervisor or manager which is within your competence.
- Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of life. Respect the confidentiality of residents and their families at all times and involve families and friends in the residents’ care and develop their trust.
- Report any observed change in the condition of a resident; any incidence of diarrhoea or vomiting (staff or resident) or any untoward incident in the home to the manager/person in charge without delay
- Report and inform the manager/senior on duty if you are unable to attend work 12 hrs before shift, informing them of a likely return date at least 24hrs before returning to work.
- Resume to duty as soon as possible after a period of sickness absence, in particular resume to days off. Absence will be managed in-line with the Bradford Factor Scores - scores exceeding 100 may result in disciplinary process being triggered.
- Be aware of, and at all times comply with, all relevant company policies including fire arrangements, health and safety issues including moving and handling, COSHH regulations. Maintaining records diligently and accurately as required.
- Greet all visitors and answer the telephone in a friendly, courteous, and efficient manner. Promote the company, and the home in particular, positively at all times in the local community.
- Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
- Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues at all times.
- Report any concerns that a residents may be at risk of harm immediately to your Line Manager. Report any concerns about other staff members immediately to your immediate Line Manager.
