We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to work as part of our existing team in our family run ‘outstanding’ Care/Nursing Home in Tadworth. Residents are at the heart of everything we do. Mealtimes are a very important part of the day. We always want to ensure that residents receive nutritionally balanced, tasty food and really enjoys their meals. Our fruit, vegetables and meat are all locally sourced. The residents are invited to help plan the menu; after all it is their home. It encompasses a blend of traditional cooking with a few modern and ethnic dishes too. We are always happy to cater for special diets and personal preferences. If you too share this ethos and pay attention to the small things then we would like to hear from you The role will require 1. To prepare the dining room for each mealtime. 2. To advise the Head Chef and Care Staff of the numbers of residents eating in the dining room at each meal, and of those residents who may require meals to be taken on a tray to their rooms or elsewhere. 3. To deliver prepared food from the kitchen to the dining room, and serve meals to service users in a pleasant and friendly manner. 4. To clean the dining room following meals, and to ensure that all dirty cutlery, crockery and utensils are returned to the kitchen for washing up. 5. To advise the Care Staff concerning any changes in a resident’s dietary habits, in particular reporting and noting any instances where a resident refuses food. 6. To report complaints to the Head Chef or Proprietor, as appropriate. 7. To prepare vegetables and other foodstuffs and beverages as directed by the Head Chef / Assistant Cook 8. To wash dishes and kitchen utensils. To fill, operate and empty the dishwasher as required. 9. To perform all tasks within laid down Hygiene Rules and Regulations. 10. To ensure that the kitchen and food storage areas are left clean and tidy. 11. To fill in for the chef as required 12. To undertake other duties, as necessary. A "can do" attitude is a must along with the ability to communicate well not only with your co workers but our wonderful residents too.
