**Position: Purchasing / Stores and Stock Control Person**

**Reporting to: Operations Manager, Glacier Machining Solutions Ltd.**

**Business: Glacier Machining Solutions Ltd.**

**Based: Glasgow Area**

**1.** **Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for managing the stores daily.
- Responsible for the management of work order process through the workshop.
- Responsible for the coordination of all purchasing activity for GMS, recording all transactions in the ERP system.
- Responsible for maintaining the stock levels within the budget set by the business, improving efficiency wherever possible.
- Support the achievement of business KPI’s, including targets relating to; P+ reporting accuracy, stock control (WIP), finance, labour costs and other measures, as agreed.
- Responsible for engaging with suppliers/sub-contractors to improve quality, pricing & lead times.
- Visiting suppliers to carry out audits or discussions on an ad-hoc basis, where required (UK based predominantly).
- Support the sales department with delivery scheduling.
- Support the timely production of month end reports in conjunction with GMS Operations and Sales.
- Analysis of supplier performance.
- Support manufacturing with any quality queries.
- Manage the NCR reporting in the ERP system.
- Support the company through any audit procedures.
- Support workshop Toolbox Talks (Weekly or as required).
- Work in a manner, which protects the health, safety and welfare of self and others.
- Actively work with colleagues to continuously improve the companies working practices.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures including quality, safety, environmental and HR.
- Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters relating to company business.
- Always protect company’s interests.
- The job role may include other reasonable duties/tasks from time to time.

**2.** **Required Skills and Experience**:

- Sound manufacturing background.
- Experience of using an ERP system preferred.
- Good working knowledge of ISO9001 requirements.
- Sound knowledge of improving efficiency and effectiveness of manpower.
- Good strong customer orientation with demonstrable client retention skills.
- Commercially astute with excellent negotiating skills and the ability to handle and overcome objections.
- Excellent people skills, communication, influencing and organisational skills.
- Team and goal oriented.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with practical, hands-on problem-solving approach.
- IT literate with specific experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point programs.
- Valid Driving Licence.

**Salary**: From £28,000.00 per year
