Family Peer Support Worker

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Family Peer Support Worker, to support our parents and carers affected by Eating Disorders within our Specialist Eating Disorder Service (SEDS), Forward Thinking Birmingham.
The role is part of the newly developed peer support programme in SEDS, working with service users aged 0-25. You will join the team of existing peer support workers and have a specific focus on supporting Family recovery goals. You will be involved in furthering the development of Recovery Focused Group and individual activity programmes, supporting our early intervention work with schools, voluntary sector services and communities. You work as part of the (Multidisciplinary team) MDT alongside Specialist Mental Health Practitioners and the Psychological Therapists.
We are looking for individuals who ideally have personal lived experience as a Parent/Carer of someone with an Eating Disorder in order to provide authentic support to inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible.

Work collaboratively with the Mental Health Teams to support Carers Support Groups
Identify and strengthen families’ and carers’ partnerships with the service provider in order to improve the support they receive
Actively seek to understand, communicate and support families’ and carers’ views and needs to internal and external stakeholders in a variety of settings
Develop links with statutory, voluntary and community sector organisations that support service users and carers.
