**Role’s purpose**:
The post will be part of the Tees dock maintenance team to ensure all machinery and equipment performs in a safe and effective manner through the diligent execution of maintenance inspections and remedial work derived from such inspections or as operational requirements dictate.

**Duties to include**:
Maintaining Tees Dock terminal equipment in accordance with the planned maintenance scheme
Diagnosing mechanical issues and fault finding on mechanical equipment.
Ideally have experience of working at heights, within a dock environment or a similarly heavy industrial operation
Have a good understanding of Health and Safety issues, HASWA,PUWER and LOLER Regulations and be able to demonstrate safe working practices
Report directly to Supervisory staff with maintenance issues, reports and inspections.

**Experience and Knowledge required**:
Apprenticeship served Mechanical fitter with experience in the maintenance of heavy equipment ideally gained in a processing plant, dock operation or a similar heavy industrial environment.
Experience with conveyor systems including material handling techniques, gearboxes and motor alignment.
Experience steel wire rope driven systems would be advantageous
Experience in solving mechanical problems
Experience and good understanding of risk assessment and method statement procedures.
Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques would be advantageous
Knowledge of appropriate health and safety legislation as well as site safety rules, Tees dock planned maintenance scheme

The successful applicant will:
Must have completed an apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering
Further education in Mechanical engineering would be desirable.
Be a good communicator both orally and written.
IOSH Working Safely
Have Level 2 ‘Skills for Life’ qualification (including Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ) or evidence of a GCSE/CSE/GCE ‘O’ level equivalent).
