**Job Description - Support Worker**
We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and resilient Support Workers to join our team at our Residential and supported living services. As a Support Worker, you will provide crucial support to residents with varying mental health needs, helping them live with dignity and independence in a safe and structured environment. Your role will involve assisting with daily living activities, fostering social connections, and helping residents develop coping and life skills.
This position is ideal for individuals passionate about mental health and who possess the patience and empathy needed to make a positive impact in our residents' lives.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide day-to-day support to residents, including help with personal care, medication management, and hygiene.
- Assist residents in developing and working toward personal goals, promoting independence.
- Support residents in activities such as meal preparation, laundry, and house cleaning.
- Engage residents in social and therapeutic activities, encouraging positive interactions.
- Observe and monitor residents’ well-being, documenting any changes in behaviour or health.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and supportive environment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team, fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.
**Requirements**:
- **Experience**: Previous experience in mental health care, social care, or a similar role is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- **Qualifications**: A Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is preferred.
- **Skills**: Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
- **Flexibility**: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends.
- **Commitment to Safeguarding**: Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and commitment to the safety and well-being of residents.
- **Physical Ability**: Capable of performing physical tasks, including assisting residents with mobility if needed.
- **Enhanced DBS Check**: An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.
