**Job Description** Description**:
The Aircraft Assembler is responsible for executing complex assembly and maintenance tasks on structural and mechanical components of aircraft in accordance with Bombardier standards and protocols. This position involves a variety of specialized tasks, including structural assembly, part fitting, hydraulic and pneumatic work, surface bonding, and precision drilling. The Aircraft Assembler ensures all work adheres to engineering specifications and safety protocols while utilizing advanced tools and systems to maintain documentation and quality standards.
**Responsibilities**:
**Structural Assembly**:
- Perform major structural assembly tasks, including installation of bulkheads, stringers, ribs, and wing box assemblies.
- Use a variety of power and pneumatic tools such as Power Feed Drills for precision hole drilling in structural components, Rivet Guns for installing and securing fasteners in aircraft assemblies, Angle Drills and 90-Degree Drills for accessing and assembling in confined or hard-to-reach areas and shoe attachments for fastening rivets and Hi-Lite installations.
- Conduct hole preparation, deburring, and countersinking operations to prepare surfaces for fastening.
- Align and fit structural components using jigs, clamps, and alignment fixtures.
- Inspect and measure components to ensure compliance with tolerances as specified by Bombardier guidelines.
- Repair or replace damaged structural components according to engineering specifications.
- Perform precision drilling and riveting on both composite and aluminum materials.
- Understand and adhere to specifications for various hole sizes required for riveting and Hi-Lite fastener installations.
- Follow blueprints, production bulletins, safety protocols (including fall arrest systems, crane operations, and heavy machinery use), and other documentation to ensure accuracy and safety.
**Part Assembly and Fitting**:
- Complete, fit, and assemble prefabricated parts or assemblies to jigs, drawings, or aircraft.
- Perform rework within classification level.
**Hydraulic and Pneumatic Work**:
- Assemble and fit components and parts to airframes and perform moderate rework.
- Use axial swage for fuel systems to ensure proper sealing and fit.
- Connect hydraulic pipes securely using O-rings and clamps, ensuring components are properly aligned and fixed in place.
- Dismantle, clean, and reassemble hydraulic or pneumatic units.
- Clean parts and perform simple repairs or adjustments.
- Cut and swage hydraulic pipes.
- Utilize aircraft swaging kits effectively.
**Surface Bonding and Checks**:
- Perform bonding checks for structural grounding points on pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural components.
**Plastic Moulding and Bonding**:
- Prepare moulds for lay-up and trim finished moulded parts to trim jig or scribe lines.
- Assemble parts using plastic bonding, mechanical fastenings, or soft riveting.
- Accurately mix formulas according to BA or manufacturer standards for plastics and sealants.
**Shot Peening Operations**:
- Set up and operate shot peening machines and prepare test pieces for inspection.
- Follow process cards, work order cards, or oral instructions.
**Compartment Cleaning and Sealing**:
- Clean all compartments, surfaces, and areas as required per Bombardier standards.
- Conduct rework to prevent or correct leaks.
- Understand curing and drying times of sealants.
**Closing Out Work Performed**:
- Progress the workbook to inspection for final completion once tasks are performed.
- Collaborate closely with inspection teams to address all work snags identified.
- Ensure book closure using various Bombardier-issued program software.
**Qualifications** Qualifications and Skills**:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical schematics, and production bulletins.
- Skilled in operating hand tools, including Power Feed Drills, Rivet Guns, Angle Drills, 90-Degree Drills, and attachments.
- Expertise in structural assembly techniques for aluminum and composite materials.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including axial swages for fuel vents and secure connections with O-rings and clamps.
- Strong understanding of bonding, sealing, and fastening techniques for both structural and interior components.
- Ability to prepare, assemble, and inspect components to ensure compliance with precise tolerances.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, including the use of fall arrest systems and heavy machinery.
- Able to operate Bombardier-issued software and systems for task documentation
