We have an exciting opportunity to join the Trust as a
**Licencing Ranger** working closely with the Boat Licence Customer Support Supervisor and Boat Licence Customer Support Officers to collect boat sightings data, issuing patrol notices and providing customer service on the towpath.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience:
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Responsible for providing accurate and up to date information about the location of boats by walking, cycling or boating along the waterways.
- Use of handheld computer (iPad / BSEA)
- Initial decision making on recording of additional information to support the processes (e.g. potential overstays, non display)
- Data inputting and analysis of boat data information.
- Face to face discussions with customers - representing the Trust at the bankside.
- Ensure that the safety requirements are adhered to including lone working, risk assessment, method statement, points of work assessment, confined spaces, asbestos etc.
- When requested, assist in the removal of boats under relevant statutory powers.
- Displaying the Trust values and behaviours linked to diveristy and inclusion at all times.
**Knowledge, Experience & Skills**:
- Previous experience of working with face to face with customers, in often difficult situations where enforcement communication is being delivered.
- Basic knowledge of relevant Acts, Bye Laws and licensing terms and conditions, affecting Canal & River Trust.
- Computer literate (essential).
- A good standard of literacy and numeracy including good IT skills.
- Knowledge of Canal and River Trust computer systems and basic knowledge of Canal and River Trust policy, principals & standards (preferable).
- A basic knowledge of the requirements of the Data Protection Act and Equality Act would be beneficial.
- Experience of working outside in all elements, often in a lone working environment and covering a different geographic area each day.
- Able to work under own initiative, with attention to detail and ability to deliver results in challenging situations and environments.
- Excellent team working skills, a logical thinker with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Need for occasional weekend working, especially during the boating season.
- Helmsman/deckhand qualification (possibly BML) may be required in areas where a patrol boat may be operated.
- Driving licence essential - Liveried vehicle.
- Ability to ride a bike essential - provided.
