Our client one of Europe's busiest ferry ports, are recruiting for two Resource Planners to work for their COAST operations (Cruise)
**Job Purpose**
- Responsible for planning all resources based on requirements across the operation and ascertain priorities.
- Primarily this will be resource based on the vessel forward programme and utilisation of multiskilled resource across the estate - including labour requirement, asset allocation, berths and internal/external customer requirements providing excellent services.
- Accountable for achieving optimum performance within scheduling of assets and labour in line with SLA’s and KPIs.
- Allocate and accurately record all operational shifts ensuring that employees are aware of when they are working and required assets are available for operational need.
- Each month provide accurate hours worked for payroll along with annual leave, sickness and other allowances.
- Liaise with key areas of the business to ensure that the right level of staffing and asset are planned whilst ensuring that hours are in line with budget and overtime is kept to a minimum.
An excellent planner is well-versed in operational procedures and ways to optimise them. They are organised and results driven with great problem-solving skills. Advanced communication and computer skills are a necessity for the role.
The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of our operations through labour and asset planning.
**Duties**
- Reporting to the Operations Manager working alongside the operational teams, the role is dual focused on ensuring the schedule of work for vessel, terminal and warehouse operations achieving the highest levels of customer service and also ensures optimum use of our assets and resources.
- Forward planning and reactive problem resolution are essential, alongside building good relationships.
- Analyse data to determine future operational demand.
- Coordinate operational workflow based on forecasted volumes, providing dynamic resourcing solutions to counter any surges in demand.
- Plan and prioritise operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
- Determine manpower, assets, equipment etc needed to cover vessel. Monitor the allocation of annual leave and training so they are effectively balanced when volumes are high/low to avoid the under/over supply of operational employee hours.
- Assign employees to particular operational tasks and schedule shifts according to operational needs.
- Maintain a employee skills matrix so that the balance of skills match the allocation to shifts required.
- Identify training needs if there are skill shortages.
- Accurately record actual hours worked, annual leave, sickness etc for each employee which will be used for their monthly pay.
- Administer payroll information for employees.
- Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.
- Identify and alert any skills gaps or resource shortage.
- Obtain output information (labour used, overtime, asset issues etc) to prepare and submit status and performance reports.
- Create, implement and maintain key performance indicators, producing monthly management reports.
- Keep paperwork organised.
- Work with HR to ensure all employee terms and conditions are up to date and being adhered to with regards to working hours, annual leave, sickness and allowances.
- Take a collaborate approach to forecasting, working with colleagues across the organisation to effectively deliver operation with robust resource planning by working together.
**Knowledge and Experience**
- Must have experience within a resource Planning/Capacity planning management type role
- Excellent knowledge of operational planning (desirable in vessel/maritime or airport)
- Experience with planning/scheduling systems eg IFS
- Advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft office packages
