Customer Service and Sales Assistant

**Reports to: Safety Critical**:
Customer Service & Sales Manager No

**Purpose of Job**:

- Provide efficient and effective 7 day a week face to face, telephone, on-line customer service.
- Ensure an efficient and effective reservations booking facility for all products and services (including discount and prepaid vouchers).
- Provide a high level of customer service to staff, volunteers, and customers, completing sales and upselling whenever possible.

**Principal Responsibilities**:
1. Work with the Customer Service and Sales Manager to ensure that electronic ticketing systems are up to date and accurate.

2. Deal with customer feedback, including complaints appropriately, escalating if necessary.

3. Accurately deal with cash transactions, carry out cash reconciliations and store in accordance with company policy and procedures.

4. Ensure all leaflet racks are full and replenish as necessary. Monitor stock levels and advise when leaflets need ordering in good time.

5. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Railway’s products and services in order to provide accurate responses to customer enquiries and upselling products where possible.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Commercially focused.
- Excellent communication and Customer Service aptitude.
- Strong IT skills.
- Empathy and rapport with volunteer workforce.
- Demonstrate a proven track record in meeting sales targets.
