**Job Purpose**-The postholder will be expected to build and enhance the Centre’s reputation for research excellence, including securing external research funding and internationally excellent research publications. Their research will be strongly linked to an agenda of knowledge exchange and impact that has resulted in change or benefit to public policy, society, the economy, public health or the environment, beyond academia.
The postholder will be responsible for leading the Centre’s workstream on Executive Education and professional development, working with the Director and the wider team to design, coordinate and deliver innovative, practitioner-focused, policy-oriented education. The postholder will play a significant leadership role in building the Centre for Public Policy, adding new teaching, research, and impact activity. They will have the opportunity to lead major research projects. They will build active external stakeholder relationships that enhance the Centre’s reputation, advance knowledge exchange, policy and public engagement, and strengthen links with relevant professional bodies.
The postholder will work as part of a growing team within the Centre for Public Policy, with responsibility for making day-to-day decisions while planning & delivering their own workload with the support of the Director. A key part of the role will include offering support and supervision to ECRs and partnering with professional services colleagues within the team.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Provide leadership in designing and developing a range of flexible Executive Education and professional development programmes, from responsive short courses to a postgraduate Masters programme, all tailored to the needs of current and future policy practitioners, as well as those seeking to understand and/or engage with the policy process.
2. Create and develop effective networks among academic and professional services colleagues, those enrolled in our Executive Education and professional development programmes, programme alumni, and external stakeholders, to support the future development of Executive Education, professional development and broader academic-practitioner engagement. This includes promoting academic engagement between the Centre for Public Policy and academic schools within the University.
3. Sustain internationally leading high-quality research activity and outputs, seeking and securing funding for a portfolio of research and KE projects through grant capture, and producing a record of internationally excellent academic publications
4. Individually and with colleagues within the Centre and the University, design and deliver a range of knowledge exchange activities and outputs to ensure a substantial track record of high-quality policy impact, founded on research expertise, impartiality and integrity.
5. Take a leading role in the development and running of the University’s Policy Lab, designed to address policy challenges from multi-level government, multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral perspectives.
6. Demonstrate leadership in knowledge creation and transfer, ensuring individual and institutional impact within the policy community, alongside contributions to public understanding, contributing fully to key strategic initiatives that underpin School, College and University strategies for external engagement.
8. Engage in your own continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
9 Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan,-10. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Director of the Centre for Public Policy.

**Qualification**

**Essential**-A2.Applicants are expected to already have achieved the grade of Senior Lecturer.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**

**Essential**
C1 Established international research profile and track record of published research of international excellence compatible with enhancing the University’s submission to a future Research Excellence Framework.
C3 Substantial track record of developing and devising non-standard teaching programmes, techniques and methods.
C4 Strong track record of policy engagement, developed through a range of knowledge exchange activities.
C5 Demonstrable understanding of the UK policy environment, including its system of multi-level government.
C6 Ability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences, including non-academic audiences, to promote understanding, particularly in relation to the key thematic priorities of the College of Social Sciences.
C7 Commitment to represent the University of Glasgow Centre for Public Policy, including in a range of traditional and social media outlets.

**Desirable**
D1 Proven track record of designing Executive Education and/or and professional development modules/programmes.
D2 Demonstrable ability to design programmes for online learning.
