**Location**:College Lane Campus, Hatfield

We are seeking a lecturer with motivation and experience of teaching in HE to teach undergraduate students about practice informed Film and TV theory and critical studies.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering film and television studies to expand, enrich and inform film and television production: the goal is to integrate these two crucial areas of activity. You will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of Film and TV histories, theories, cultures and aesthetics within a constantly changing contemporary environment.

You will maintain a clear sense of the development of relevant theory and critical studies and ensure the curriculum and teaching remain up to date. You will further develop and strengthen external relationships and partnerships with studios and other media organisations that will benefit students and staff and support the strategic objectives of the University and School.

You will inspire and intellectually challenge our students, developing and delivering a high-quality teaching and learning experience. You will work closely with colleagues and the Programme Leader, in a collegial and proactive academic team.

**Skill and experience required**

You will have some relevant experience of teaching at HE level together with either an established record of research outcomes or professional experience in one or more areas related to film and television. You will have an awareness of current academic and popular debates relating to FTV studies and experience of engaging students with these. You will have a proactive approach to keeping up with current industry practices and emerging critical debates. You will have the ability to develop and implement a broad, stimulating, inclusive curriculum to support diverse student groups with demonstrable interest in and/or experience of Film and TV industry practice in a relevant discipline.

You will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of Film and TV histories, theories, cultures and aesthetics within a constantly changing contemporary environment. You must be able to assist in curriculum design, implementation, assessment and promotion of the course. And have the IT skills required for effective academic practice. You will have knowledge and experience of a range of contemporary pedagogic approaches appropriate to Film and TV studies including online delivery.

You must have good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication, organisation and planning skills. You must be able to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues, and be able to deal with conflicting demands and priorities. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative and be proficient in English.

You will be able to act as a responsible team member and develop productive, respectful working relationships with other members of staff with a commitment to issues related to equality, diversity and inclusion as well as a commitment to reflective practice and continual improvement.

**Qualifications required**

Having a teaching qualification, Associate Fellowship of Advance HE (formerly HEA) and/or membership of relevant professional or academic organisations would be an advantage.
