**Overview**

**Key Duties**

**Yard Responsibilities**:

- Load and unload materials from lorries and containers using a counterbalance forklift (forklift experience required).
- Organise and maintain all stock areas for ease of access and safety, including internal storage and external stillages and access.
- Receive and check deliveries against documentation when required.
- Carry out heavy lifting and manual handling of building and roofing materials following safety protocols and loading customers when required.
- Perform daily equipment checks on any vehicle you will be using for deliveries or collections and report defects as required.

**Shop/Store Responsibilities**:

- Work at the front counter to assist customers shopping, enquiries, and collections when organised.
- Handle cash and card payments accurately and securely.
- Ensure the shop is well-stocked by receiving deliveries into the store and placing stock out on shelves in an organised manner.
- Monitor inventory levels and reordering stock as required.
- Maintain a clean, presentable retail environment for trade and retail customers.
- Provide excellent customer service and product knowledge where applicable.
- Closing down the shop at end of day, taking in vehicles to store overnight on premises.

**Experience & Skills Required**
- Previous experience in a builder's or roofing merchant or construction supply environment is required.
- Counterbalance forklift licence and recent experience are essential.
- Comfortable with manual labour and lifting heavy building materials.
- Basic maths and measurement skills for handling orders and stock.
- Strong verbal communication and good interpersonal skills for customer-facing tasks.
- Comfortable working in both indoor (shop) and outdoor (yard) settings.
- Experience handling cash and retail transactions is a strong advantage but training can be provided.
- Manual Driving Licence required.

**Working Hours**:

- Monday to Friday 07:30am to 17:00pm
- Friday 07:30am to 16:00pm
- Alternate Saturday shift required 6:30am to 1:00pm (One on One off)
- **Total Hours: 44.5**

**Experience**:

- Heavy lifting: 1 year (required)
- Materials handling: 1 year (required)
- Forklift: 1 year (required)

Pay: £13.85-£14.25 per hour

Expected hours: 44.5 per week
