**Description**

The Deli Assistant will be responsible for assisting customers at our large Delicatessen counter where we will offer fine cheeses, charcuterie, olives and salads.

In addition to providing excellent customer service, other responsibilities will include cutting, weighing, packing and labelling customer’s product choices using an electronic scale. The Deli Assistant will also be expected to helping to ensure the counter is well-stocked and clean.

Team members will be expected to look after stock using a system to manage use-by dates. Opened products will need to be labelled and repackaged carefully.

At the beginning of each day, the Deli counter needs to be setup artistically and samples prepared. At the close, the counter needs to be carefully set down and cleaned properly ready for the next day. Products must be transferred to our cold rooms overnight in an orderly manner.

**Working pattern**
- Up to 57 hours per week
- Monday to Saturday
- Approximately 5-9 hours per day
- Full-time shifts expected to be 07:45 - 17:15
- Occasional additional hours to cover staff absence

**Requirements**:

- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good personal hygiene and presentation
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate
- Previous experience in retail or customer service is a bonus
- Previous experience with delicatessen products is preferred
- Willingness to build expert product knowledge to sell and recommend our products

**Salary**

Dependant upon age and experience:

- 21+ year olds: Starting at £12.25 per hour
- 18-20 year olds: available upon request

We’re a local independent delicatessen and grocery store in Neath, South Wales. Our founders are the family behind Rosa’s Bakery, the hugely popular artisan bakery founded just two years ago. A flagship retail unit has been secured in the centre of Neath town which has been equipped across two floors to a high standard.

We value wholesome, local and organic food. We strictly screen products and ingredients to avoid any ultra-processed foods. We’re working with local farmers, growers, food producers and the NPT food partnership to invest in the local food scene.

In addition to our extensive range of fine groceries, we also offer a lunchtime menu and ready-made evening meals for takeaway.
