The Financial Accountant is the person within the Finance Team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller and responsible for the day-to-day financial accounting

My client is a regulator.

**Description**
- The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day financial accounting. This includes supporting the Financial Controller in preparing final accounts at 9 and 12 months for the external audit and helping the external auditors with their requests andqueries throughout the external audit process.
- The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in the treasury management in accordance with managing public money e.g. managing cash balances in-line with commercial and government banking arrangements.
- The post holder will be the line manager of four Assistant Financial Accountants.
- Be responsible for the integrity of all financial systems and maintaining timely delegated authority structures within.
- Ownership of the balance sheet, ensuring timely and regular reviews are conducted with the Financial Controller.
- Ensuring all internal and external returns (including HMRC and Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS)) are completed, reviewed and returned on time.
- The post holder will be responsible for providing support and help to internal audit, whenever necessary.
- The post holder reports directly to the Financial Controller and will deputise for the Financial Controller when required.

**Profile**
- Qualified by experience.
- Experience of working within the public sector desirable, but not essential.
- Understanding of year end process and preparation of accounts is critical, with a track record of supporting the successful completion of year-end accounts.
- Experience of managing audit deliverables and planning.
