Due to ongoing expansion, we are seeking semi-skilled machinists to work in our machining center of excellence.
This position will be ideally suited to someone who has finished an apprenticeship and looking to progress their career Or has had some experience in a manufacturing background and looking progress their career into CNC machining. At DTI we will train you to program, set and operate Mazak and XYZ cnc machines.
Based in Poole, Dorset we are an ISO9001 accredited, leading international supplier of high performance equipment for the global energy sector.
Working across a range of modern machinery you will produce a wide variation of small batch work from: prototyping small parts, to deep hole drilling, and large diameter precision machining.
We have multiple vacancies available on permanent Early / Late shifts.
**Principal Accountabilities**:
Responsible for producing high precision, small batch components for global energy industry.
Responsible for programming, setting and operating XYZ/Mazak CNC machines.
Using trial runs and graphic simulations on modern CNC machines to ensure correct components produced.
Self-inspection of components along with first article inspections.
Storage of programs / setting instructions
Saw and issue materials, as per manufacturing instructions.
Responsible for providing support and training to trainees, apprentices and less experienced machinists, as required.
Responsible for working safely at all times and with consideration of the safety of others.
Troubleshooting other machinist/inspectors wherever needed.
Adhere to all DTI policies and procedures.
To carry out other duties as required.
**Job Knowledge and Experience**:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Must be reliable and prepared to work overtime, often at short notice.
- Working experience of manufacturing systems and processes.
- Excellent coordination and organizational skills.
- Able and willing to push through constraints in an engaging and collaborative manner.

The incumbent must:

**Responsibilities of Managers and Supervisors**
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the HSE Management System is implemented within the operations under their control. The incumbent must actively monitor the workplace to ensure that acceptable standards are maintained. Where risks are identified the incumbent must ensure that these risks are controlled, so far as is reasonably practicable.
The incumbent's duties include:
- ensuring that employees, contractors and visitors are aware of relevant HSE procedures
- establishing that all equipment, plant and substances used are suitable for the task and are kept in good working condition: this includes the regular maintenance and servicing of equipment
- providing adequate training, information, instruction and supervision to ensure that work is conducted without harm to people or the environment
- taking immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and rectify any risks to people or the environment arising from the work activity
- bringing to the prompt attention of senior management any HSE issue that requires their attention
- ensuring that all incidents are properly recorded and reported and that an investigation is carried out to establish and rectify root causes
- actively participating in the HSE management system.
