Apprentice Electrician

**The Role**
Here at Fortem our trades are the heart of our business, and we believe that the development and training of our Apprentices is key to our success. Therefore, we are delighted to confirm that we are looking for an Apprentice Electrician to join our Fortem team on our Longhurst Housing contract working in Northampton and the surrounding area. We are seeking a driven and committed Apprentice who will be the future of our business in years to come. As an Apprentice with Fortem, you will complete an NVQ for your trade at college, whilst working with your Trade mentor, putting your knowledge and skills learned into practice “on the job”.
**The Project**
What you’ll be doing: Working alongside a trade mentor you will - Carry out a varied range of tasks within the maintenance team assisting colleagues as required - Identify electrical problems using a variety of testing devices - Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers - Assist in the installation, testing and maintenance of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using hands tools and power tools Alongside your day-to-day activities, you will be involved in wider business activities to enhance your learning and be supported to be involved in local community initiatives. You will have a clear plan around your development and our unrivalled apprenticeship scheme has proved time and time again that developing our next generation of future talent is imperative to our growth plans. On graduation, you will be supported in progressing into a permanent role within the team and to continue your career development journey.
**Essential and Desirable Criteria**
Qualifications - GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Essential - GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/C) Essential Additionally - You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity as there will be frequent use of hand tools - You will occasionally be required to work at height or be required to walk and stand on uneven ground - You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction
