Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is seeking to appoint 2 Translators to work as a part of its busy and well established translation team. The main duty will be the preparation of English to Welsh and Welsh to English translations.
By virtue of mutual agreement and undertaking appropriate training, there will also be an opportunity to provide simultaneous translation in meetings and events arranged by the Council. For this an additional monthly supplement will be paid.
The successful applicants will possess Welsh language qualifications of degree level or equivalent and previous experience of working within a translation role will be an advantage. Excellent ICT skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines are essential requirements for this role.
You will be part of agile working, mainly from home, but there will be an expectation to travel to offices and attend meetings when required.
The posts attract a competitive salary, an option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme, 25 days of annual leave (full year), increasing to 30 days after 5 years service, and other benefits such as discounts on membership to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council run Leisure Centres and a Staff Benefits Scheme.
If you would like to discuss the post informally, please call the Welsh Language Services Manager, Steffan Gealy, on 07824541674.
Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council.

In support of the Council’s voluntary pledge to support the Armed Forces, the recruiter must always be prepared to ensure that applicants who have identified themselves as members of the Armed Forces including Service Leavers, Veterans, Reservists or Spouses and who meet the essential criteria of the person specification, are offered an interview.
