**Whats the job & who would it suit?**

We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Trainee Press Brake Operator for SSC Laser in Hixon. You will receive training on how to operate an Amada press brake and how to convert technical drawings provided by the CAD/CAM Engineer, into the desired product specification requested by the customer. The role would suit someone with a background in production or machinery who is eager to take on necessary training to become fully competent.

Working within the production team, you will be an integral part of delivering a great service to internal colleagues and our customers.

**What youll be doing**

Specific responsibilities will vary depending on skills, experience and previous levels of operation. There is scope either to grow into this role or to come straight in at a higher level if you already have good prior knowledge and experience in this sector.

So that you can get a feel for the job, here is what you will be doing day to day and will receive training on:

- Operating an Amada press brake
- Setting the press up to suit the material being used to achieve the bend required
- Ensure the selection of correct material or laser profiles for the job
- Count parts, bag or stack for packing or subsequent operations
- Ensure quality checks are carried out and all folded parts are signed off
- Follow procedures and processes (including ISO 9001:2008)
- Record job time accurately using internal work operating system
- Keep work area tidy and machine clean
- Tooling management and Storage and reporting all defects as and when required
- Assist other areas of the production facility when required
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as and when required

**What youll need to succeed**

**Need to know**
- How to operate CNC machinery desirable
- Knowledge of different sheet metals desirable

**Need to have**
- Previous machine operating experience desirable
- Good problem solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and an eye for quality
- Counter-balance forklift license desirable though not essential as training can be provided
- Background in production environment advantageous

**More about the job**

Hours of work are 38 per week weekly rotating as below

Week 1 - Monday - Thursday 5:45 - 14:15 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks, Friday 5:45 - 13:30 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks.

Week 2 - Monday - Thursday 13:45 - 22:15 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks, Friday 13:00 - 20:45 with 45 minutes of unpaid breaks.

**Salary**: £23,050 - £24,000 depending on previous experience. Additional pay bands once fully competent.
