Job Introduction
We are looking for Investigators to join our legal team. In this post you will be undertaking internal investigations (principally relating to whistleblower concerns, but also other internal investigations (including for the purposes of litigation/HR Litigation, data breaches, and other regulatory or governance matters); This will include undertaking interviews, preserving documents and evidence, preparing investigation reports, assimilation of evidence, drawing conclusions, root cause analyses and making recommendations. Additional duties to include administration of investigations and support in administration of cases and systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Working alone or as part of a small team, leading and delivering investigations, fact finding and other assignments to a consistently high standard. Includes developing or tailoring detailed root cause analyses, findings, and recommendations for each assignment and testing and challenging of evidence and effectiveness of controls;
- Matters investigated include a wide range of issues which may be reported in relation to the business, its employees and suppliers including HR/employment issues (such as bullying, harassment, discrimination, unsafe working conditions), unethical behaviour and non-compliance with business ethics policies or company values, alleged criminal acts or non-compliance with laws and regulations;
- Ensure findings are discussed and agreed with businesses, taking responsibility for the timely close out of fieldwork and findings.
- Preparing reports which are concise and relevant, with focus on agreed action plans to be completed
- While retaining independence, be a business partner to all. Through constructive dialogue, ensure that internal investigations are objective, fact based and that relevant actions are agreed that address the issues identified and can be achieved in a time frame set;
- Provide support and guidance to the local management team on matters that arise, taking the time to understand local business conditions and key risks;
- Follow up on agreed actions to continue to support and aid local management in efficient and timely implementation;
- Assist the Senior Counsel/Secretary, UKI REC to prepare the monthly reporting to be presented to REC and any other governance or relevant committees;
- Support in the administration of cases through SpeakOut system;
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of company Whistleblowing Policy, Business Ethics Policy and other compliance related policies;
- Assist the Legal and Compliance functions (and business generally) with other ad hoc tasks as required
Essential
- Substantial investigatory experience including interviewing and fact finding
- Understanding the need to protect confidentiality of individual whistleblowers, employees and others under investigation and business confidential information
- Strong ethical and professional values
- Excellent report writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills
Experience of employment laws and regulations and compliance related laws and regulations is desirable.
