Assistant Spatial Planner

**What you’ll be leading on**
- Discharge our statutory responsibilities within the planning process, including the commissioning of specialist consultant support, where necessary escalating more complex cases.
- Support ongoing liaison with key external stakeholders, through attendance at local planning meetings and other planning or discussion forums, providing evidence-based and transparent guidance and advice on future local plans.
- Work with the Spatial Planner to engage with internal and external partners to identify and secure funding opportunities for improvements to the network in support of economic growth.
**To be successful**
- Understanding of spatial planning or town planning / transport planning, including associated legislation and development management.
- Awareness and knowledge of duties to be discharged through relevant statutory and regulatory duties, operational standards, service delivery manuals, requirements and guidance.
- A good understanding of transport appraisal techniques and guidance and the importance of transport-related issues, to the spatial planning function.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer focus with good personal impact
- Ability to execute tasks independently, and work collaboratively within a team.
