This job is currently based in Winsford CW73RD, however this role will be relocating to the Runcorn area from 1st June. Therefore, must be able to work in Winsford until1st June and relocate to Preston-Brook.
**Job Details**
This is a full-time role, working 5 days a week.

Week 1** Tuesday - Saturday - 12:00 noon until 20:30 and Saturday 06:00-14:30

Week 2 **Monday - Friday - 12:00 noon until 20:30
This shift is rotating.
**Main Purpose of Role**:
To control and monitor the warehouse and transport operation in compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Ensuring an efficient and smooth operation, achieving service levels within time and budgetary constraints.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient supervision of a team of LGV1 drivers and other team members undertaking a variety of transport duties.
**Main Duties/Responsibilities**
- Plan and control daily / weekly resource requirements, assessing priorities, identifying potential problem areas and reacting accordingly.
- Ensure you and your team operate in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and legislative requirements
- Negotiate rates and agree expected service standards with contract driver agencies.
- Liaise with team leaders and other Managers to ensure that targets / aims are clearly identified. Act as an immediate point of call for all transport related issues.
- Ensure that vehicles / trailers are inspected as per agreed time schedule in accordance with Goods Vehicle Operator License specifications.
- Ensure that vehicle / trailer defects are promptly rectified. Ensure that all documentation relating to defects are signed off.
- Ensure that an effective system is in place for the random check weighing of vehicles (follow up action as necessary).
- Ensure all Health and Safety legal requirements are met and adhered to and that staff are aware of their specific responsibilities. Ensure roll calls are done in the event of fire / bomb threat evacuation.
- Maintain high standard of presentation and hygiene within your designated areas including that of yourself and the staff reporting to you.
- Ensure that regulations relating to vehicles within the scope of the Goods Vehicles Licensing of Operators Act are adhered to.
- Initiate and be involved in appropriate training/re-training/counselling and disciplinary procedures where necessary to avoid failure of employees to reach standards or targets. Deal with any escalated disciplinary/grievance matters that arise; liaising with Human Resources and Senior Managers for clarification and support.
- Ensure all transport related risk assessments, training records, driver licenses and other Health and Safety documentation is checked periodically. Follow up action as necessary.
- Attend any training / development sessions as part of your own career / personal development.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new staff. Ensure induction training for all new starters is carried out within your area of responsibility. Carry out ongoing and formal performance review of team members reporting to you.
- Liaise with the Regional Manager and other Departmental Management regarding operational issues as required.
- Monitor sickness and absence of your team through counselling sessions and Return to Work Interviews.
- Authorise and control holiday dates issue for all team members reporting to you, ensuring adequate cover during peak holiday periods.
- Ensure that audit processes are adhered to in line with customer, internal and external audit requirements.
- Any other duties as may be assigned to meet the varying needs of the business.

**Qualifications Key Skills and experience will normally include**:
- A strong team player you must have acquired experience in a modern transport environment where the emphasis is on high standards of delivery of a high-quality customer service.
- A sound working knowledge of transport planning management systems and road transport regulations.
- The successful applicant will be self-motivated, well organised, methodical in their approach and resilient under a normal amount of business pressure.
- Provide leadership and deploy organisational skills to effectively deploy all available resources including staff and vehicles ensuring a cost effective and efficient operation is maintained.
