**JOB TITLE**: Education and Training Officer - Personal Safety & Violence Prevention
**REPORTING TO**: Managing Director
**CONTRACT**: Full-time, Permanent Contract
**HOURS OF WORK**: 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday
**CONTEXT**: Resolve it is celebrating a successful 10 years empowering children and young people with the skills to stay safe. A unique not-for-profit organisation that specialises in personal safety, violence prevention and self-defence education. Our age-appropriate workshops explore topics including road and on-line safety, knife crime, exploitation, and substance misuse. Schools and Youth Services across South Wales are asking for our help to mitigate the ever-increasing risks and dangers faced by young people, and we are looking for Higher Level Teaching Assistants to help us satisfy this increasing demand.
**JOB SUMMARY**:Education Officers are responsible for the development and delivery of personal education and violence prevention workshops. Sessions are delivered in a variety of settings across South Wales as one-off assemblies or projects that form part of the Health and Well-Being curriculum. You will be required to lead classroom sessions and manage classroom behaviour with teacher support. Due to the sensitive nature of the topics we cover, an ability to show empathy and deliver sessions using a trauma-informed approach is essential.
Although this role does not require delivery of self-defence, you will be welcome to join weekly training sessions with our Lead Instructor.
A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
A satisfactory enhanced DBS certificate and two references are required before employment can commence.
**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Include but not limited to.
- Developing engaging age-appropriate workshops to educate young people on issues of personal safety.
- Leading and participating in the delivery of workshops and assemblies.
- Independently travelling to varying delivery locations across Cardiff and the Vale (and other areas in South Wales if required), possibly multiple locations in one day (expenses covered).
- Contribute to the development of online educational resources.
- Supporting other team members and departments as required.
- Measuring and evaluating workshop impact.
- Keeping up to date with contemporary issues in personal safety and violence prevention and sharing knowledge with the team.
- Actively participating in team meetings to discuss and develop workshop content and report on activities.
- Contributing to whole company development/improvement, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Training teachers, youth workers and others to effectively deliver Resolve it content.
We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic, and creative communicator who is able to independently organise and carry out their work without close supervision.
**Essential Credentials**
- Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years Teaching Assistant or similar role experience
- Engaging and enthusiastic delivery style
- Team player
- Experience creating and delivering exciting, innovative lessons and/or workshops for a variety of audiences
- Confident and able to manage large groups of children and young people
- Ability to plan and deliver a range of engaging educational sessions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to confidently represent Resolve it in a range of forums
- Knowledge of current key issues of personal safety and self-defence or willingness to complete relevant training
- Full driving licence and vehicle
- Satisfactory enhanced DBS certification
**Desirable**
- Experience of working in the education system/ youth sector in Wales
- Experience/knowledge of personal safety issues for young people
- Ability to plan and deliver sessions through the medium of Welsh
- Experience of monitoring, evaluating and/or reporting on own work activities and their impact
- Experience with or knowledge of self-defence
**Contract details**
- Salary starting £24,000 depending on experience
- Contract duration: Permanent
- Full-time (8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday)
- Annual leave: 28 days including bank holidays

Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Based in Cardiff office, CF10 4LN but will be out on delivery most days, up to two locations a day (expenses paid).
**Education**:
- A-level or equivalent desirable
**Experience**:
- teaching or coaching: 2 years (desirable)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (required)
- Business Car Insurance
Willingness to travel:
- Up to 80% of the time - essential
