G&H Torquay is a fast-growing business specialising in design and manufacture of fibre-optic components, fibre lasers, and fibre optic modules for performance in rugged environments such as under sea and in space. We have an excellent opportunity available for a Production and Material Controller to work at our manufacturing site in Torquay. The purpose of the role is to ensure ‘Work in Progress’ flows thought the line according to plan, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

**Main duties include;**
- Ensuring all manufacturing adheres to the production plan by working closely with the production teams and planning, checking all materials, build instructions, resource and equipment are available. This includes managing overbuilds and reworks
- Driving a deadline mentality on the shop floor, with real focus on exceeding on
- time delivery targets, throughout the line and out the door
- Ensuring all relevant systems have up-to-date and accurate data, monitoring and reporting information, identifying upcoming capacity constraints and providing delivery dates to customer services
- Driving customer focus on the shop floor, communicating customer requests and expediting work when required
- Monitor and control lineside stock escalating any low stock, stockouts or shortfalls to planning and purchasing
- Carry out monthly cycle counting maintain and report inventory record accuracy.
- Performs all job duties within ISO and AS standards, regulatory or statutory requirements.
- 3+ years’ experience in a technical production environment
- Exposure to a LEAN manufacturing environment
- Use of Syspro (or equivalent) and legacy business systems
- Understanding of manufacturing metrics
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing practices
- Preferable background in Fibre/Photonics manufacturing
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office - particularly Excel
- Reporting on and presenting manufacturing metrics
- Proven problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to prioritise and meet conflicting demands
