**We have an exciting opportunity for an Expert by Experience (i.e., Peer Support Worker) to join a new service based in South Tyneside, working within the community and alongside other organisations to provide peer support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.**
- Giving people with lived experience an opportunity to step into the field of Peer Support
- Post is up to 12 months with a view to securing longer term employment
- Fully supported to transition from being supported by services to working in this sector

**About You**

**We would love to hear from you if you have**:

- Lived experience of your own personal mental ill-health
- Awareness of mental health issues and how they may impact individuals, gained through your lived experience
- Able to recognise and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Genuine desire to work with this client group.
- Able to work under pressure /possess a high level of emotional resilience.
- Able to work in partnership with others (colleagues, clients, families, other organisations/agencies etc.)
- Able and willing to regularly work without direct supervision, using initiative.
- Willing to develop knowledge/skills.
- Able to develop good working relationships with and among colleagues.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills
- Good organisation skills and able to prioritise workload.
- Can work Mon to Friday with occasional weekend work as required

This is a fixed term (12 months), part time (20 hours a week) position.
