The scope of the role is wide covering: business partnering and business planning, management reporting and analysis, financial performance delivery and investment decision support, and the oversight of effective financial stewardship and governance. The role is also a key ambassador for the University's finance transformation programme.

**The Role**

The Academic Vision of the School of the Biological Sciences (SBS) is the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest international levels of excellence. The School is organised into 9 Departments and four major interdisciplinary research institutes all of which are involved in fundamental biological research. The School's Academic Vision covers exceptional breadth and depth of both research and teaching, but it also encompasses some significant operational challenges including some of the oldest buildings in use for scientific research, charity funded research, undergraduate courses, and disparity in teaching loads, grant income, costs, space and staff posts between the School's different Departments and Institutes. The Academic Vision also includes plans to transform the structure and organisation of professional services. This role has a significant and leading financial business partnering role to play, supporting the School as it develops and implements transformative changes across academic, capital and administrative strategic planning, and supporting the Academic University finance function in developing the future model and capabilities of financial business partnering.

**Your Skills**

Qualified accountant with significant post-qualified operational experience gained in complex matrix organisations. Well-rounded stakeholder engagement skills and proven ability to respond to, identify with and engage with academics in an academic-led environment. Proven ability to identify with and engage with the culture and objectives of an elite research intensive University. Experience of managing and developing staff. Significant experience with complex accounting software. Significant leading role in large transformation and change management projects. Strong influencing, analytical, problem solving and communication skills

**Location**

This role will normally be based at the School's offices in central Cambridge. There are opportunities to explore hybrid working arrangements with the School leadership team.
