**Salary**: £23,088 (FTE)

**The Vacancy**

Here at Halton Housing, we are looking for a friendly and attentive Catering Assistant to work across our vibrant organisation.

**Duration**: Fixed term until the end of April
**Working Hours**: 18 hours per week x 3, 6-hour shifts Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am to 3pm
**Location**: Naughton and Barkla Fields Bistros (Widnes)
**Legal Requirement**: Please note, all applicants need to be 18 years or over due to lone working within the bistros and kitchen area

**What You’ll Do**:

- Undertake cooking activities to cover the full range of food and beverage preparation and service to the customers
- Undertake menu planning and food preparation, portion control and the provision of special dietary requirements where appropriate.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene and be responsible for all Health & Safety/Food Safety in the kitchen and hospitality areas
- Work as part of a team and be proactive in providing a high standard of service and customer care
- Undertake administrative work to include stock control, recording opening and closing checks, daily banking sheets, productivity and reconciliation of daily income

**What You’ll Need**:

- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate - NVQ Level 1 and/or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate - NVQ Level 2
- Relevant experience of working in a catering outlet with a detailed knowledge of food handling
- A flexible approach to working hours
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures
- Has good customer service and communication skills, responding to internal/external customers, users and contractors
- Ability to spot hazards and/or problems and escalate in a timely manner
