We are looking for a Clinical Development Lead to support the enhanced roles strategy. Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA) is a unique company set up to support adult care providers within Hertfordshire to raise quality standards of care. Weare a non-profit member’s association for adult care providers. We support over 500 care organisations to improve the quality of care they provide across a variety of projects such as staff training and providing information and guidance.
**Project Summary**:
To develop a Hertfordshire system strategy for the sustainability of enhanced health roles in residential and nursing homes. Aiming to support staff development and retention, as well as supporting better management of health-related tasks within homes.By having enhanced roles, it should reduce need for unnecessary emergency health support, better management of deterioration, better utilising of clinical staff skills across the system and offer further career development opportunities for social care staff.
Although the Nursing Associate is a nationally accredited program, there is still little uptake in Hertfordshire Nursing Homes, and for residential settings although care staff have started to take on minor tasks from health services such as basic healthobservations this is not formalised and does not have clear oversight for accountability within roles.

**What does the role of Clinical Development Lead involve?**
Based in Welwyn Garden City, reporting to the Clinical Education Team Manager, you will support development and implementation of an enhanced health role strategy for social are providers in Hertfordshire including education delivery. Act as the main pointof contact for clinical development and supervision for a new health liaisons and nursing associates. Specific responsibilities include:
- Support development of the enhanced role strategy in consultation with system partners including social care managers and owners. Strategy will include both Health Liaison role for residential homes and Nursing Associates for nursing homes.
- Develop Health liaison education program and resources to be delivered to health liaison roles, including shadowing of system partners and using system experts to train
- Review CPD required for Nursing Associates and Nurses in nursing homes to support sustainability of these roles
- Work with system partners linked with homes trialing strategy to create a coordinated approach for support
- Ongoing supervision and support to Enhanced roles and oversee development meetings with groups of staff
- Carry out onsite observation and evaluation for the enhanced roles to establish effectiveness.
- Linking with relevant wider Integrated Care System Groups to maximise support for Nursing Associates utilising resources across the system.
- Develop Nursing Associate resources contextualised to adult social care to engage proprietors and managers and widen uptake of the role
- Develop Forums for Nursing Associates working in Care Sector
- Maintaining open communication with the Clinical Education Team manager and relevant members of the team to enable smooth running of the project and other associated tasks
- Support with the wider recruitment activities to support new staff into the social care sector in Hertfordshire.
- Support HCPA Care Home Impartial Assessor service each Tuesday to cover hospital sites where need to carry out assessment of care home residents and review trends of admissions and attendances which will link with Enhanced Strategy and help maintain clinicalcompetence (full training will be offered)
