**The Role**

This role presents an exciting opportunity to join our highly regarded Education Outreach and Transition team, based in the University Library.

We are looking for someone who can make a strong contribution to a wide range of projects and activities, working alongside academic and professional services colleagues in support of the delivery of impactful education outreach and transition programmes. The Education Outreach and Transition team places a particular focus on A level / sixth form students and works in close alignment with the aims of the University’s Access and Participation Plan (APP). You will participate in productive partnerships with key stakeholders across the University, and with regional and national heritage and cultural organisations, to support the delivery of high quality, impactful engagements with our partner schools.

We offer a blend of place-based work on our Newcastle campus and elements of home working.

Please note that if you are successful to this role, you will require DBS before you can commence in the role.

**Key Accountabilities**
- To work closely with faculties, schools, professional services, heritage organisations and other key stakeholders to deliver an impactful education outreach and transition programme
- To support the design, delivery and evaluation of academic and research skills programmes, delivered both online and in-person, for A-level students and students making the transition to Higher Education. These activities will be developed in close alignment with the strategic priorities of the University’s Education for Life Strategy 2030+, and the Access and Participation Plan
- To support the Education Outreach and Transition Manager in liaising with specific academic schools and institutes to identify their current and future learning and teaching, research and engagement priorities, sharing this information in order to support the planning and delivery of appropriate education outreach activities with schools and colleges
- To participate in partnerships with academic and professional services colleagues, external cultural and heritage organisations, teachers and other educational professionals to develop and deliver engaging project-based learning opportunities and workshops which link current academic-research with the school curriculum
- To work with team colleagues in designing educational projects involving multiple partners and a diverse range of stakeholders, including the delivery of high-quality outputs within agreed timeframes. To participate in the development and implementation of robust evaluation plans, including an assessment of project outputs, to determine the overall impact of these projects
- To collaborate with academic and Library colleagues to ensure the most effective means of delivering specific skills to suit a diverse range of learners, encompassing both face to face, online and blended teaching, and the development of impactful and engaging online self-directed learning resources
- To identify any local and national funding opportunities pertaining to education outreach and transition, in support of potential funding bids
- To support the success of on-going relationships and partnerships within the Library, University, schools and colleges, heritage organisations and other external bodies, suppliers and the wider community
- To participate in relevant networks and communities to ensure that work is informed by current developments in research and academic skills practice and pedagogical research. This includes presenting at conferences and seminars
- To participate in conferences and professional meetings, and address other relevant audiences within the University and wider educational community
- In the absence of the Education Outreach and Transition Manager, to coordinate and supervise the work of team colleagues, including any students working on projects and activities with the team
- Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

**The Person**

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Up to date knowledge of developments in teaching, learning and assessment, specifically in the context of secondary schools, including knowledge of the National Curriculum, GCSE and A Level exam specifications
- An understanding of the learning needs of students transitioning from A level to Higher Education
- Experience of teaching secondary and particularly sixth form students in either an educational or heritage/cultural setting
- Experience of developing teaching and learning materials in a range of formats to support the development of research and
