**_About the role_**
- Follow agreed Trust and Academy first aid and welfare processes to respond to and provide appropriate support for all health and welfare issues, including the administration of medication, contacting external agencies for cases which require additional medical or welfare help and supporting the Pastoral Manager and NHS school nurse with the student injection programmes.
- Responsible for maintaining the Academy’s first aid equipment and stock levels. Ensuring the Academy has the required level of equipment and stock in place at all times and first aid kits are provided for all external visits.
- Prepare first aid kits and student specific risk assessments for educational trips and visits.
- Responsible for the creation, implementation and monitoring of PEEPs, IHCP’s and EHA’s as required.
- As a member of the frontline welfare team responsible for responding, as appropriate in times of crisis (for example pandemic, bereavements, accidents, incidents - inside and outside of school) as directed by the Pastoral Manager.
- In partnership with professional support and external agencies responsible for the implementation of individual medical and care plans, ensuring plans are maintained and shared with staff as appropriate and participating in any specific required training.
- Promote, contribute and support the Trusts and Academy’s culture of wellbeing through signposting training, offering advice and guidance to staff, holding drop-in sessions for wellbeing and supporting Malcolm Arnold Academy to be involved with local and national well-being initiatives.
- Conduct internal audits and self checks on medication and first aid provisions.
- Ensure all health and safety standards are met in line with trust policies and guidance.
- Communicate with families as and when required. This may be to inform families of first aid provided or that their child is unwell or to arrange meetings for evacuation plans or health care plans.

Permanent, 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time)

**_Who we are looking for_**
- Educated to GCSE level, including English and Mathematics
- Current First Aid qualification approved by the Health and Safety Executive or willingness to undertake for the post
- Current accredited Mental Health First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake for the post
- Current accredited Psychological First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake for the post
- Experience working within a school setting or with school aged children
- Experienced in providing First Aid
- Awareness of Safeguarding and Child Protection processes
- Able to maintain the strictest confidentiality and integrity at all times
- Sensitivity when collaborating work with colleagues at all levels
- Highly organised and efficient and able to work to tight deadlines, often under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relate well to a wider range of stakeholders
- Able work under your own initiative and deal with demands of large and diverse Parent/Carer population
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team
