Job Summary:
The Fabricator within the heat exchanger industry is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and welding of components used in the production of heat exchangers. This role involves working with various materials such as metals and alloys, interpreting engineering drawings, and utilising specialised tools and equipment to produce high-quality components that meet industry standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Fabricate components for heat exchangers according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate machinery and equipment such as drills, grinding and welding machines to cut, shape, and join metal parts.
- Perform layout and assembly of components, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Utilise various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, FCAW) to tack components together, ensuring proper penetration and strength.
- Inspect fabricated components for defects, dimensions, and overall quality, making adjustments as necessary to meet specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot issues and improve fabrication processes.
- Follow established procedures for material handling, storage, and inventory control.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and stay updated on industry advancements.
- Fully embrace tools and techniques for continuous improvement and creative problem solving.

Qualifications:

- Further education qualification or apprenticeship in Fabrication or related field.
- Proven experience as a fabricator, preferably within a related industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, joint set-ups and weld symbols.
- Reasonable welding skills and knowledge of various welding techniques and equipment.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments and hand tools effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
- Basic record/documentation keeping skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to fabrication and general engineering activities.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring manual labour and lifting of heavy materials.
