We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Matron who will work alongside our nursing leadership team within Private Care services at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea Ambulatory areas and Cavendish Square.
The successful Matron will provide effective, visible and accessible clinical leadership and operational management for the nursing staff of Private Care whilst ensuring that the service is fully integrated into the trust’s corporate governance strategic framework. They will be expected to ensure that Private care has a positive and effective relationship with all wards and departments across the trust. The post will line manage senior nursing staff and support them to develop and manage their teams and service.
Chelsea private care ambulatory areas include a busy medical day unit and outpatient department. Cavendish Square is an exciting new diagnostic centre, in the heart of London’s most respected healthcare district. As a specialist cancer centre, The Royal Marsden Private Care will have the clinical expertise, facilities, and technology to provide leading private care service. Our multidisciplinary teams, consisting of world-leading cancer experts will provide our patients with personalised care.
**The Matron will**:
- Be responsible for all aspects of daily operational management, delivering key performance targets and quality measures (with support from the Divisional Nurse Director (DND).
- Provide clinical leadership to the nursing and administrative teams, maintaining credibility through practice and provide a high quality and safe patient service, which exceeds patient expectations.
- Liaise effectively with members of the Multi-Disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a co-ordinated specialist service across all Trust sites.
- Support the major service improvement and transformation programmes across the Trust.
- Lead and manage the nursing teams within Cavendish Square. This will include developing and supporting the nurses, continually reviewing their remit within Advanced Nursing Practice.
- To manage the nursing budget in a cost-effective way, working closely with the service manager, Director of Operations, DND and clinical lead to achieve this.
- Advise the DND on matters pertaining to the provision of nursing services within Cavendish Square.
- Lead and formulate local operational policies relating to Cavendish Square and submit them through the appropriate committees.

- Provide and sustain a high quality specialist nursing service to patients and their families within own area of expertise.
- Advise the Divisional Nurse Director (DND) - Private Care services on the formulation and revision of relevant policies and to regularly review these following change/implementation. To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.
- Continuously review the Nusring Service to ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention, so that patients referred and supported by the appropriate specialist.
- Where appropriate, to establish/maintain and support nurse led clinics whereby the problems and needs of patients and their carers are appropriately channelled. To review the effectiveness of these clinics on a regular basis.
