**Job summary**:
As an important part of the Ministry of Defence, Defence Intelligence (DI) provides intelligence analysis, specialist outputs and advice that supports decision making across government. At the heart of DI is the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI).
Within NCGI, the Defence Geographic Centre (DGC) delivers geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), geospatial information, services and liaison to Defence, including deployed forces, and to other government departments and international partners, imagery exploitation is a key component of this process.
We have an exciting opportunity for hardworking, driven individuals to join our friendly team where you will specialise in the precise geopositioning of earth observation imagery datasets and the output of imagery products to support strategic and operational objectives.
This role is advertised at 37 hours per week
**Job description**:
**Main Responsibilities**
The scope of the post will require the post holder to have or develop a good depth of understanding of remotely-sensed imagery, imagery workflows (including the manipulation, processing and production of certified products), and terrain datasets and their editing.
Key activities include:
- Ordering, exploitation and dissemination of imagery to support the generation of imagery and terrain products for co-production programmes and operations, or as support to DGC strategic and ad-hoc internal and contractor production activities.
- Provisioning, geopositioning and archiving of softcopy imagery and products.
- Coordination, editing and production of refined terrain datasets and future terrain capability.
- Stereo and mono mensuration of vertical obstructions in support of aviation safety.
- Determination of the accuracy of imagery and terrain data.
- Provision of imagery and terrain data products and expertise to internal and wider Defence customers.
This role has line management responsibilities for one member of staff.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**
Experience should include such elements as geo-positioning and ortho-rectifying images, creating stereo models, and producing specialised stereo imagery products.
Proven ability to work independently and prioritise their work to meet specific timeframes.
Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
Good or better stereoscopic acuity, as established by a standardised Stereo Acuity test, is essential and will be tested at interview.
**Desirable Criteria**
Knowledge and understanding of the GEOINT and/or wider intelligence communities.
Proficiency in a commercial electronic light table suite such as SocetGXP or RemoteView.
Line management experience.
