About Compliance
Barclays Compliance is a global function consisting of c. 1200 colleagues based in 23 countries across the globe. The purpose of Compliance is to strengthen the culture of Barclays by providing oversight of the management of Conduct and Reputation Risk. Compliance participates in the prevention, detection and management of breaches of applicable laws, rules, regulations and procedures and has a key role in helping Barclays achieve the right conduct outcomes and evolve a conduct focused culture.
About Investigations & Whistleblowing
The I&W Team is a global team which sits within the Compliance function. The purpose of the team is to ensure that colleagues are able to raise whistleblowing concerns and that these are appropriately recorded and investigated. The key responsibilities of the I&W team are to (1) define and deliver a global Whistleblowing programme, in line with regulation, which supports employees who report concerns, protects them from retaliation and ensures that action is taken to address any identified risks or issues; and (2) conduct investigations into confidential concerns, including but not limited to whistleblowing concerns.
Overall purpose of role
The Head of BBPLC Investigations is responsible for the management of the BBPLC I&W portfolio of work. This includes overseeing confidential investigations regarding the BBPLC entity including but not limited to whistleblowing concerns, proactively identifying and escalating potential risks, themes and trends both within the BBPLC portfolio and more broadly across the I&W portfolio and engaging with senior stakeholders regarding the I&W programme. The Head of BBPLC Investigations is also a member of the I&W Management Team and will support the Group Head of I&W with the development and implementation of the I&W strategy.
Key Accountabilities
The primary duties of the Head of BBPLC Investigations are to:
- Oversee the delivery of BBPLC investigations referred to the EME team including reviewing and approving investigation reports and acting as an escalation channel for any issues or queries.
- Maintain oversight of all BBPLC investigations managed by the I&W team from a portfolio risks and insights perspective and working with the regional leads to achieve this.
- Own, build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders including the BBPLC Chief Compliance Officer and members of Business Oversight Compliance.
- Work with stakeholders to deliver the support and guidance BBPLC requires from the global I&W service with regard to the nature and structure of BBPLC and the work it undertakes.
- Provide briefings on the BBPLC Whistleblowing Portfolio and Management Information (MI) to stakeholders of varying seniority.
- Regularly reviewing, contributing and conducting analysis on key whistleblowing data to assess the BBPLC and Group Whistleblowing Portfolio.
- Proactively identify, assess and escalate potential themes and trends within the BBPLC I&W Portfolio and across the wider I&W team. This includes working with stakeholders to join the dots across investigations and other data sources e.g. Compliance Assurance Reviews, completing thematic reviews of potential themes and working with stakeholders to define and deliver remediation steps.
