There are opportunities for both Qualified ACP / SCP and those looking to develop into a trainee SCP post to apply.
The trainee posts will be expected to undertake the MSc Surgical Care Practice (General Surgery) at Edgehill University.
This vacancy offers the opportunity to be part of a growing, vibrant composite workforce team, providing effective health care to the people of North Cumbria and working to bring about dynamic change in the way surgical patients requiring health care are managed in North Cumbria.
Based at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven, our SCP posts in Surgery will involve working as an experienced healthcare practitioner with proven leadership skills who will support the surgical teams whilst developing their own advanced clinical assessment skills, including assessment of patients, diagnostic skills, and understanding of investigations and developing skills to assist in the operating theatre. They will demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure.
You will work to ensure wherever possible that junior surgical or medical staff are enabled to meet their training and development requirements. You will also support those in training within the surgical environment such as trainee SCPs, trainee assistant practitioners (TAPS). Local requirements for Advanced Clinical Practice must be achieved or in progress. The post-holder will work flexibly including availability for weekend and evening work as the service develops.
You will provide expert assistance to the Consultant, middle grade and junior doctors in the provision of a high quality, patient centred service as part of an award winning Composite Workforce within our Trust. You will be expected to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway as appropriate and will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge.
