**Job Overview**:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, and working as part of the Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the supply of materials meets the production schedule. The material planner's responsibilities include creating, and maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Create POs for the placement of orders with suppliers.
- Logging POs and creating weekly and monthly spend analyses.
- Creating order schedules through PI counts and stock tracking spreadsheets.
- Create inbound delivery schedules for goods in the team.
- Managing backorders and flagging any potential stockouts.
- Price check invoices against POs and match with a delivery note for accounting purposes.
- Perform data analysis and issue reports on supplier performance to ensure suppliers meet and maintain expected performance levels.
- Assist in the requests for quotations and tender analysis.
- Deliver cost down and cost avoidance initiatives in support of the company’s stock holding targets.
- Complete monthly stock takes.
- Aid in the creation of SCARs and the subsequent implementation of improvements.
- Responsible for supporting continuous improvement within the systems and best value principles.
- Complete, create and track credits of faulty goods and communicate a timeline for the production of replacement items.
- Support on projects where needed
**To be successful in this role**:
- Previous experience in materials planning in a manufacturing environment, with a knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
- Good working knowledge of purchase ordering systems and processes along with experience in complex stock takes and best practice stock control.
- Forecasting, tracking, and maintaining stock requirements.
- An understanding of the Bill of Materials.
- Well-organized, disciplined, and self-motivated, with the capability to balance multiple priorities.
- Hands-on, hardworking, motivated with a can-do attitude.
- Strong analytical, planning, forecasting, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of JIT ordering techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain good working relationships internally and externally.
- Strong IT skills including PowerPoint, and Excel, along with working knowledge of ERP MRP systems, would be desirable.
