Childcare Practitioner

We are looking for an experienced, passionate and driven individual who can work as part of a small team to provide high quality early learning and childcare. They should be qualified to HNC Early Education and Childcare (SCQF level 7) or equivalent.
The pattern of work will be 8.30-3.30 Monday - Friday (35hours per week). This position is term time and holidays will be paid.
Rate of pay will be dependant on experience.
We are a not-for-profit, committee-led preschool which provides an exciting, creative and caring child led environment for 24 children aged 3-5 years. Our aim is to provide the best possible care for our children and their families whilst developing them to their fullest potential.
**Responsibilities**:
- To comply with nursery policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
- To be involved in planning and implementation of stimulating experiences in accordance with current curriculum guidelines.
- To ensure children’s individual learning needs are met and that each child’s progress is recorded and shared with parents.
- To work effectively as part of a small a team
- To liaise with stakeholders such as parents and other agencies
- To be committed to training and professional development.
- To be familiar with the Care Inspectorate Health and Social Care standards, SSSC codes of practice, follow good practice guidelines and meet the requirements of PVG Registration
- To become familiar with and operate within our policies and procedures
- To be familiar with health and safety regulations, risk assessments and prioritise the safety of children and staff.
- To ensure a welcoming environment is created for all children and parents/carers
- Take part in reviewing, evaluation and improvement of the service provided
- To ensure that individual children’s learning needs are catered for and that each child’s progress is recorded
- To liaise with parents/carers to share information about each child’s interests and learning preferences
- To complete individual personal plans and additional support plans if required
- To undertake cleaning and snack duties on a rota system
- To undertake delegated tasks given by the manger
- To attend and participate in occasional nursery fundraising events out with working hours
- To liaise with South Lanarkshire Council and other agencies appropriately
- To records and maintained records for each child that are available to regulatory bodies.
- To contribute to own supervision and annual appraisal
The Early Years Practitioner will hold an appropriate qualification to comply with the SSSC requirements and will be committed to personal professional development and record the impact in line with SSSC regulations.
